This presentation will focus on the procedural aspects of a bankruptcy or assignment proceeding involving a medical practice. There will be a focus on health care matters such as:  dealing with medical records, patient rights advocacy, continuity of care, and physician employment transitions. There will be both a mechanical discussion as to process and practical tips on how to inform staff, preserve records, and participate in a smooth and orderly transition. The panel will discuss medical records, HIPAA compliance, board and officer liability, patient complaints, and successful interaction between bankruptcy counsel, health care counsel, and the trustee or assignee.
