Virtual Physician Visits in Long Term Care – Quality, Costs, and Legal Considerations for Telemedicine
Time: 2:00-3:30 PM Eastern (90 minutes)
Session Format: Live Webinar
CLE Credit Available: Yes
Topic: This webinar will discuss use of telemedicine in urgent situations to reduce resident hospitalizations and improve quality of care, while increasing revenue for the nursing facility and reducing costs for the health care system.
Skilled nursing facilities must care for a growing population of frail patients who require significant medical services. Skilled nursing facility physicians are often off-site or unavailable when patient assessments and care recommendations are most urgently needed.
This presentation will educate attendees on the use of telemedicine in urgent situations to reduce resident hospitalizations and improve quality of care, while increasing revenue for the participating nursing facility and reducing costs for our healthcare system. This webinar will cover the legal issues that impact telemedicine such as reimbursement, provider licensure, Anti-Kickback, Stark, Corporate Practice of Medicine, HIPAA, Ryan Haight Act, and Informed Consent.
The webinar speakers are John Whitman, Wharton School lecturer and long-term care expert, Dr. David Chess, geriatrician, internist, entrepreneur and one of America's pioneers in the use of telemedicine in skilled nursing facilities, and Andrea Lee, post-acute care health care attorney at Honigman LLP.
